(Renter's Agency.) London, December 18. Parliament meets on February 9th. The ' Daily News ' of to-day announces that Sir J. B. Thurston, the Governor eleot of Fiji, will introduce into the Islands new industries, including mills for the extraction of cocoanut oil, for making coooanut matting, and for fruit canning, December 19. The Marquis of Salisbury, speaking at Derby, did not consider tbat diplomatic views pointed to an immediate European war, although be believed hostilities would commence without any warning, and for this reason it was necessary that England should make all needful preparations.
