TAKAKA ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of the Takaka Road Board was held on Saturday last. Present— The Chairman, Messrs Bartletfc, Baird, Newport, and M'Farlane, The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Mr Harwood (Ranger) paid into the Board the sum of £2 Bs, fees collected. Resolved, That a cheque be drawn for the half-year's salary of the Ranger, and held by the Secretary until after the 31st instant •_ also that the Ranger have one month's holiday without reduction of pay. Tenders received for work at Anahau — Petterson and Gibbons, £23 4s 6d ; W. J. Reilly (accepted ),-"£9 ss. Tenders for day work, with horses and cart and driver -.—Upper District : John Petterson, per day, 1 horse 9s 11 Jd, 2 horses 12s 6d ; W. Barlow, 1 horse 9s 6d, 2 horses 12s 4sd ; W. and J. Reilly, 1 horse 9s, 2 horses lis ; John Byrne, 1 horse 7s, 2 horses 83 (accepted). Clifton District : W. and J. Reilly, per day, 1 horse 9s, two horses lis ; C. Harwood, 1 horse 9s, 2 horses lis; F. R. Burt, 1 horse 8s 6d, 2 horses 10. (accepted). Waitapu District: It. Manson, per day, 1 horso 9s Gd, 2 horses lis ,- W. and J. Reilly, 1 hovse 9s, 2 horses lis ; John Byrne, 1 horse Bs, 2 horses 9_ (accepted). Resolved, That Mr Solly have notice that his sei vices aa Poundkeeper will rot be required after March, 31, 1888 ; also that applications for tho oflice of Poundkeeper at £4 per annum be invited in time for February meeting of the Board. Resolved, That J. Byrne be paid for what gravelling he has done ; also that as soon as the work is re commenced he is to have the option of taking it at his contract price. Resolved, That Mr C. Lewis be requested to survey a line of road in front of Mr R. Packard s to land at the back held by Messrs Harwood, Manson, and Packard, and report to the Board as to the land surveyed. The Secretary reported that he had called on Mr P. Hunter to get him to sign the agreement for leasing road through his property from Takaka to Anatoki rivers, but Mr Hunter declined to sign the agreement for a yearly rental of £1 (the price agreed upon), but he would take 25s as the yearly rental. Resolved, That Mr Hunter be paid a yearly rental of 255. Resolved, That the wages of daymen be 6s per day, Resolved, That the Seoretary be empowered to obtain tho necessary dog collars from Mr Emms, provided he will supply them at the same price Mr Jones supplied the Waimea County Council at. Resolved, That Mr Bartlett be empowered J to get tbe stones picked off the' ford way. Resolved, That the Secretary attend at the Board's office from 10 a.m till 4 p.m. on the first Saturday in each month.
