(Before A. Turnbull Esq., R.M.") Bayfield v. H. H. Travers — Claim for £2 10s, amount of unpaid calls in the Johnston's United Or. M. Company. Judgment for amount and costs. Brown v. Brown. — In this case Mr Kingdon applied for a protection order on behalf of Mary Brown against her husband Hervey Brown, on the ground that he had been guilty of cruelty, and of habitual drunkenness. — Order granted as prayed. Manoy v. Eden. — Judgment summons for £22 178 2d. Mr Cooke appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr Harley for defendant. The defendant said that he had been summoned to the Motueka Court ia September last, bnt that he had arranged to go to the Wairau in the hope of earning money at shearing time, and so he instructed a solicitor to appear for him. He was absent until the last day of December and during 1 the whole of that time -only earned £i; not being able to obtain employment. It was hot until some time after his return that he heard that judgment had been given against him. Meantime hia father took out a distress warrant for rent, and he could only save all his stock from being sold by giving a bill of sale over it for £44. Since January he had onl.; earned 30s, and was quite unable to obtain the money. — His Worship said he could nofc grantan order, as it was not proved that the man had tho moans. Patterson v Stafford.— Claim for £23 4s 7d. Mr Harley appeared for the plaintiff and Mr Pitt for the defendant. Mr Pitt said that Mr Bell the other executor was taking steps to prove the will with a view to liquidating all the claims against the estate. He had no intention of defending the present action, but only asked that time might be allowed to make the necessary arrangements. This was agreed to by Mr Harley, and judgment was entered for the amount claimed and costs £4 14s.
