This afternoon the H Battery gave an exhibition of shot and shell practice when some extraordinarily good shooting resulted, Sergt Major Wimsett's detachment taking the palm. The Nelson Navals on the invitation of their Wanganui comrades proceeded to the river and assisted to launch the new boat of the Wanganui Naval Brigade, afterwards going for a short cruise. Large numbers of people are visiting the camp, the shot and shell practice however formed the principal ex- j citement. Sunday. A tug of war between the Nelson and Wanganui officers was pulled off yesterday afternoon. Nelson was represented by Major Pitt, Captains Bnnny, and Malcolm, Lieuta. Payn'.er, Crossman, and Fell. The local officers were, however, 100 strong, and Nelson succumbed. The whole of the corps attending Gamp were mustered this' morning for Church parade at Christ Church, and an imposing pr6cession marched through the streets, which were lined with spectators on both sides. Leave has been given to the whole of the Volunteers in Camp to absent themselves for the remainder of the day until tattoo sounds. The camp, though somewhat deserted, is being visited by . a large number of visitors. Preparations are all complete for the review to-morrow, and the weather bids fair to be glorious. The Nelson contingent leaves here at 1 a.m. on Tuesday, arriving at Nelson' about 2 p.m.
