A deputation from the Chamber of Commerce will wait upon the Premier on Monday in connection with the Horfaor Board question, The men supposed to he lost in the Wairarapa Lake have turned up after an adventurous time. Henry Powell, John Breed, and Michael Monaguan are insolvent. Henry Best has made an assignment. Hearn, the noted Wellington sculler, will represent New Zealand at the Intercolonial sculling match, to be held at Melbourne. It is not improbable that Mr JEtenry Jackson, of the Hutt, will have a walk over for the seat, the others named being apparently disinclined for a contest. Monday. The Stella leaves for Taranaki this evening, taking up 60 Armed Constabulary. * Within an hour of the Opera House being burnt down, Mr Browne the manager, had arranged for the Hiscock and Hayman Company to play at the Theatre Royal. It is understood that the Hon. Mr Lyttelton, private secretary to the Governor, resigns bis appointment in a day or two, and proceeds to England. The Rev. Me Thompson will be appointed in his place. Dunedit?, Monday. The houses of Messrs McCarthy, Scott, and Street, were destroyed by fire last night, and nothing was saved. The buildings were insured in tno National for £ 400, and the furniture in the Colonial for £100. Oamaho, Monday. The Artillery Volunteers volunteered for active service if required. Auckland Monday, The Governor arrived in the Hinemoa after a very stormy passage. He drove through the town escorted by the Volunteers and a large number of carriages, to the Government house. It is understood that several Executive meetings will be held during the Governor's stay. An arrangement with Rewi is understood to be among the subjects for consideration.
