Miss Baynon Honoured

ENJOYABLE VARIETY EVENING . A most enjoyable variety evening was held in the Clarkvilie Hall recently to honour Miss Olive Baynon, who has since been married. Mr- G. H. Hassall eulogised Miss Baynon’s services to the district, and expressed regret at her departure. On behalf of the residents of the district and many friends, he asked her to accept the gifts with all best wishes. Mr G. Hanwright suitably responded. On behalf of the Basketball Club, Miss Ngaere Holland asked Miss Baynon, who was a pioneer of the Clarkville Club, to accept a box of cutlery, with the members’ good wishes. Miss Baynon suitably responded. A skipping rope dance and tap dance were given by Miss Betty McMillan. Mr W. Holland acted as M.C., while Mr V. Lange, Belfast, supplied the dance music.

GARDEN PARTY The members of the St. Augustine’s Church Guild, Clarkvilie, held a very successful garden party, under ideal weather conditions, in the grounds of Mr and Mrs J. Smith’s residence, Clarkvilie, on Saturday. Those in charge of the various stalls were: Mesdames J. Moore, J. Burgess (work); Mrs F. Holland, Miss L. Burgess (cake) ; Misses Jean Smith, Nesta Holland, Marcelle Cockerell (sweets); Mesdames L. Dowdle, L. Burgess, C. J. Vaughan, Bird, A. Smith, and Miss M.
