Waikato Jersey Oaks Decided

HAMILTON, Sal. (Sp.)—The £6OO Waikato Jersey Oaks, main event of the dairy sections at the Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral Society’s annual show yesterday, was won by Messrs A. Moreland and Sons’ Beechland's Pretty Sue. By Royton Submarine out of Royton Suselte, this cow won the reserve championship in the Jersey class on the previous day. Her production figures were 4883 lb butterfat in 305 days under OHT. She was awarded maximum points for both type and production. The runner-up, Mr J. W. Singer’s Waitoa Queen Bee, by Erin view Gold Nib out of Erinview Gold Spray, was only one point behind the winner. Her production was 504.61 b butterfat in 305 days under OHT.

HIGHEST PRODUCTION Madame de Guise-Roussel's Beechland's Royal Dove, with 48 2 points of the possible 50, was third, her production being 545.221 b butterfat in 305 days under COR. With 630.941 b butferfat in 365 days under COR, Messrs R. M. and W. H. Thompson's Beauview Melodious achieved the highest production figures in the class.

This heifer was placed fourth, with 47 points for type. The big prize-money awarded to Jersey Oaks competitors places much emphasis on first lactation records and in some cases involved the feeding of concentrates.

Maximum points for production were awarded for the first seven entries.
