TWO INQUIRIES
An inquiry was held into the running of the Huanui Hurdles. The inquiry did not concern the winner Alderman, whose dividend was paid out. The payment of the dividends on the second and third horses was held up pending the result of the inquiry. After hearing evidence the judicial committee did not alter the judge’s placings. The apprentice jockey, J. Mokaraka, of Pukckohe, was suspended for two months for not riding Gay Youth on its merits.
Gay Youth finished second. An inquiry into the check received by Sir Tavia, the hot favourite, in the second race, the Kensington Hack Handicap, had not ended at time of going to press.
