Auckland Wharf Dispute Continues

AUCKLAND,Fri. (Sp.) Only one ship on the Auckland waterfront was worked fully last night. The waterfront dispute continues and the men refuse to accept overtime which is not booked before 10 a.in.

In the past it has been the practice of the shipping companies ,to engage overtime labour laic in the afternoon, but this is now not acceptable to the men, who demand that, all overtime and replacement labour be booked before 10 a.m.

No finality was reached at a conference of' the parties called by the Waterfront Industry Commission, which had ruled that overtime should be worked on the usual terms until the commission could produce an order.

Some men were present to work on ships at 6 p.m. last night, but refused work in most cases when it was found that the gangs were incomplete. The grain ship Ribera, discharging bulk wheat into hoppers, was the only vessel worked at full, pressure last night.
