Taking Over Hofei
WELLINGTON. Wed., (Sp.).—When the present lease of the Waingaro Hot Springs Hotel, 16 miles from Ngaruawahia expires next year it will be purchased by the Government to be run as a trust hotel. It will be a unique form of trust in New Zealand, as the local licensing committee will exercise control.
The store adjoining the hotel will also pass into tiic possession of the Crown, as well as the 340 acres comprising the present Waingaro Domain. These provisions are contained in the Waingaro Domain Disposal Bill, which was introduced in the House of Representatives late last night.
The Minister of Lands (Mr Skinner) said that a petition signed by 90 per cent of the residents of the Waingaro riding of the Raglan County had asked the Government to take over the hotel and establish a trust.
