Car ‘Frustration’ Likely To Continue
AUCKLAND. Wed., (P.A.).— Concern at the lack of import licences for new cars was expressed today at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Retail Motor Trade Association. The following statement was issued: “Complete disregard by the Government of .the requirements of the community as displayed in the 1950 import licence schedule for cars, is viewed with dismay “Subject to such Canadian licences as may be granted, it is estimated that the announced 1950 licences will provide only 10,000 ears, following on only 12,000 in 1919, as compared with an average of 27,000 annually- in pre-war years
“Unlfss the Government is prepared to review its drastic decision the backlog of. buyers starving for cars will suffer continued frustration.”
