Catholics, Police Fight In Slovakia
LONDON. Thu. (10.30 a.m.)—Resistance of Roman Catholics in Slovakia was continuing, in spite of intimidations and violence, Vatican radio declared today. The radio said that one person was killed and several others seriously wounded in the village of Dolnia Kaupa, near Trnava, in Slovakia, when police fired into a crowd which defended the local priest. Violent clashes between police and the population occurred in a number of other villages, the radio added. In Bratislava the clergy, with one exception, signed a proclamation of fidelity to their bishop.
