Railways Again Operate At Loss
WELLINGTON, Fri. (Sp.)—Railway services again operated at a loss for the four weeks ended June 25, according to the working account of the department. The total loss in the first quarter of the financial year to date is £291,942, against a loss in the same period last year of £232,580. All lines incurred a loss in the latest four-weekly period, expenditure on railway operation exceeding revenue bv £180,571. Miscellaneous services alone earned a profit. Revenue from this source, at £240,475, was £4119 higher than expenses.
