Opua Port Petition

OPUA, Fri (Sp.t—A petition is to be framed by the-Bay of Islands Harbour Board for circulation throughout local and farming bodies of the North asking for support for the reopening of the Bay of Islands port at Opua. Arising out of replies made to a series of 25 questions by a Governmental official (Mr A W Booker) who visited the port recently, members held a general discussion befor resolving to go ahead with the proposal to circularise a petition. All county councils, town boards, borough councils, chambers of commerce, progressive societies, Federated Farmers branches, dairy companies, the freezing works and other interested organisations will receive the petition. The motion to send out the petition was moved by Mr J. D. Hislop. seconded by Mr W E. Lane.
