Children In Crime Gangs
LONDON, Thu. (11.30 a.m.). Youth crime gangs in London are on the increase, Sir Harold Scott, head of the Metropolitan Police, said todayin his annual report for 1948. He staled that more than 05 per cent of those arrested under 21 worked in parties of which even young children were ringleaders. Giving “most disturbing" figures for the increase in crime among young people. Sir Harold said the - number of children between eight and 13 arrested for indictable crimes was 21 per cent more *hao in 1947. The total number of indictable crimes in London was 12(3.597 which v.-as 40 per cent higher Hum before the war. but 2357 fewer than the peak year.. 1945
