15 Deaths From Electric Shocks
WELLINGTON, Fri. (Sp.).—Fifteen fatal electrical accidents occurred in the Domiaion in the 12 months ended March 31, according to the annual report of the State Hydro-Electric Department. This was the same number as in the previous year.
The year’s total of 43 non-fatal electrical accidents was one greater than in the period ended March 31, 1943. Domestic accidents, including those in hotels and boardinghouses, resulted in four fatalities, the greatest number in any one group. However, electrical linemen were involved in the most accidents, two of which were fatal and 13 non-fatal. This was a marked increase on the previous year. There were eight industrial accidents, including one which proved fatal, 10 affecting various classes of other workers and tradesmen, four being fatal, and two, one fatal ,to members of the general public. One fatal and three non-fatal accidents occurred to children up to seven years of age. In the age group from seven to 15 years, there were two fatalities and two other accidents.
