AUCKLAND. Thu. (P.A.).— The Government-chartered Liberty ship Barn Hill is now the Port’s oldest “overseas maritime inhabitant." She has been here 53 days but will not have completed discharge of 9500 tons of Australian cargo for about another fortnight. By then she will hold the record for length of stay by a ship not directly affected by strikes or accidents. The Mooncrcst. now on her way 1o Hull via Odessa, is believed to have held the previous record—ss days from arrival to departure. The Barn Hill is not expected to clear port for at least another three weeks, possibly longer. She still has to load general cargo for Australia.
