Officers, Plans For N. Auckland Regiment

APPOINTMENT of the officers who will command the units of the North Auckland Territorial Regiment has been announced in the Gazette, which was published immediately prior to the regiment will be based on Whangarei where the headquarters company, support company, and one rifle company will be established. (

The Commanding Officer is Lieuten-ant-Colonel R. H. Ferguson, who will have Major J. H. Garland, E.D., as second in command, and Captain L. J. Sanders, N.Z.- Regiment, as adjustant. Rifle companies will be established at Dargaville, Kaitaia and KaikoheKawakawa.

Padre to the Regiment is Captain W. J. Hughes. Whangarei appointments to the H.Q.. support and “A” rifle companies are: Majors W. E. Crawford and F. H. Poolman, M.C., E.D.. Captains E. H. Fairley, L. Simmons (Medical Officer). R. Kake, I. M. Matheson. A. C. Pryde. Lieutenants W. Alison, H. A. Crispin, L. A. Harvey. C. S. Philpott, W. H. Reynolds, T. F. L. Ward, S. E. Weston, R. T. Wood. Second-Lieutenant P. Skelly. Dargaville officers arc: Major J. A. Maich, Lieutenants E. G. Shucksmith. C. T. Martindale, Second-Lieutenant H. G. Matthews.

Kaikohe-Kawakawa officers: Majors J. C. Henare. D. 5.0., A. D. Woolcott. Captain N. R. Brady, Lieutenant W. B. P. Wordley. Kaitaia officers: Captain W. C. Sutherland. Lieutenants E. G. Brennan. M.M., C. S. Geard.

RNZAF Appointments

WELLINGTON, Thu. CP.A.). -- Group-Captain R. J. Cohen, A.F.C., who returned to New Zealand from England yesterday, will take up an appointment as deputy Chief of Air Staff ,a position which he held prior to his departure for the United Kingdom, said the Minister of Defence (Mr Jones) today. Group-Captain W. C. Sheen, D. 5.0., who has been on exchange from the Royal Air Force, and who at present is deputy Chief of the Air Staff, will return to the United Kingdom next month.

Wing-Commander F. R. Dix, 0.8. E., who also returned from England yesterday, will take up an appointment as commanding officer at Olmkea Station. and Group-Captain A. E. Clouston, D. 5.0.. present commanding officer. will return to the United Kingdom next month.
