Admiral Retires

LONDON. Tue. (10 a.m.).— The Admiralty today announced the retirement of Admiral Sir William Tennant, Commander-in-Chief of Britain’s American and West Indies Squadron from 1946 until last April. Admiral Tennant flew his flag m Sheffield, which was sent to Belize, British Honduras, in March last to land marines when there were reports of a possible invasion from Guatemala. He was in command of the battleship Repulse when she was sunk by the Japanese off the Malayan coast in December, 1941.
