WELLINGTON, Sat. (P.A.).—A policy bombshell was exploded at the annual Dominion conference of the Federated Farmers, when Mr A. G. Wood (Auckland) moved: “That the pakeha seek equality with the Maori.” The conference was momentarily puzzled, then highly amused. “I do not introduce this in a spirit of levity,” Mr Wood said. “Too long have we suffered by the fact that we have become a second race to the Maori people.” Several delegates rose to second the motion and there were no more than two or three “noes” when a vote was taken.
