BIG FOOTBALL CROWD Gate takings at the annual Maoripakeha Rugby game for the Brydon Trophy at Knikohe on Saturday amounted to £3ll. The big crowd was representative of the whole of Northland. The game created tremendous enthusiasm, particularly among Maoi'i people, who were present in large numbers. FOOTBALL ACCIDENTS Resulting from accidents on the football field last Saturday, two Hikurangi club players were admitted to Whangarei Hospital. They were: David McGee, of Whakapara, 24, restricted junior grade, fractured right collarbone: Colin Beckett*. 18, Maunu Road. Whangarei, broken rib, right side. BUTTER RATIONING CASE A charge of failing to account for 500711 b of butter on request by a rationing inspector was brought by the Department of Industries and Commerce against Brian Campbell John KelsalJ, of Whangarei, in the Whangarei Court this morning. At the request of the department tire case was adjourned until August 15 by the magistrate (Mr W. C. CLOTHING CAUGHT FIRE Standing in front of a radiator at her home, 23 Lupton Avenue, yesterday, Anne Philpott, aged 18 months, received burns to her buttocks, back and thigh. Her general condition was reported by Whangarei Hospital authorities today to be very good. TWO CHARGES ADJOURNED . Two charges against Frederick Isaac Nixey, of Whangarei, were adjourned until August 1 by Mr W. C. Harley, S.M., in the Whangarei Court today. Nixey was charged with stealing a citrus tree valued at 8/-, and of unlawfully removing one tarpaulin, valued at £lO. both the property of the Railways Department.
