5 Northland State Houses Last Quarter
One hundred and ninety state houses were let. or re-let throughout the Auckland and Northland districts durin the quarter ended .Tune 30, 194, according to a quarterly statement from the State Advances Corporation.
The quarterly statements have now replaced those which were formerly issued monthly.
Of these tenancies OR were granted to the applicants eligible for the preference extended to certain clases of ex-servicemen, and 94 were allocated to civilians. The civilian allocations were made in the following towns: — Kaikohe, (2): Whnngarei. <2): Okaihau, ft).
During the quarter. 774 new plications were lodged in the districts for state tenancies. 558 being from civilian applicants and 216 from ex-ser-vicemen. The total number of unsatisfied applications on hand at the close of the quarter was 15.079. of which 11.329 were from civilians and 3750 from ex-servicemen. The number of state rental houses already completed in the Auckland and Northland district is 10,021, while 1508 more houses are in the course of construction.
From the inception of the Government’s present housing scheme up to June 30. 1949. 29.447 new tenancies have been made available throughout the Dominion to applicants in both the civilian and ex-serviceman’s categories.
