Chinese Nationalists Lose 5,691,400 Men
SHANGHAI. Fri. (11.30 a.m.L—The Chinese Nationalist. Army has lost 5,691,400 men during the three years of civil war, according to a Communist army communique quoted by the Peiping radio. The losses were made up as follows: 60 per cent war prisoners, over 27 p*T cent casualties, and over 12 per cent defeetionists.
The communique said that by the end of June the Communists were in occupation of over 30' per cent of China's total area, with a population of nearly 280.000,000 —53 per cent of China's Iota! population.
