N.Z. President's Eve-Of-Test Message
WELLINGTON, Sat.. (P.A.). The following statement in regard to the first Rugby test at Capetown was given today by the president of the New Zealand Rugby Union (Mr D. S. Max': “Today we are to have another great Rugby encounter, the first test of this tour, between New Zealand and South Africa.
"As president of the New Zealand Rugby Union I would like to say how pleased I am to know these two great teams are to meet and how disappoint-
•■' - - ,j. e w hen the 1939 tour had to be cancelled.
“When I represented New Zealand on the International Rugby Board, a firm friendship was formed between the South African delegate. Mr Leon Rood, and myself. “I am sure our representatives in South Africa will still further cement the comradeship that exists between the two great unions. “I have every confidence in our team and I am sure they will come through victoriously.- I wish to extend, on behalf of my union, greetings to tire South African Union and to both teams, and my very best wishes for a good game. May the better team win.'’
