Japanese Swimmers To Compete In US
NEW YORK, Fri. (2 p.rt.).—Four Japanese stars will compete in the national swimming championships at Los Angeles from August 19 to 2i, the Amateur Athletic Union announced today. / The union’s invitation to the Japanese Swimming Federation has been accepted. The Japanese appearance against the best United States swimmers will mark the first visit of Japanese athletes since the war.
The Japanese team will be headed by Konishin Furuhashi, wh6 has broken the listed world records in the 400. 800 and 1500 metres freestyle. Another freestyle swimmer, -a backstroke expert and a breaststroke specialist will complete the foursome.
