During April the Northland tuberculosis officer (Dr A. H. Webb) visited 30 cases at Whangaroa, 54 at Mangonui, 35 at Kaikohe, 34 at Kawakawa, 65 at Te Kopuru, 137 at Whangarei and 9 at Rawene. The majority of these were Maori patients. . . Of the 148 outpatients visited in April, 111 were Maori and 37 European. Thirty-two inpatients were visited—24 Maori and 8 Europeans 31% POSITIVE “Tuberculin testing was carried out at the Waikare school in the Bay of Islands,” Dr Webb reported. “A total of 48 children Was tested, of Whom 15 (31 per cent) exhibited positive reactions. “Considering that there are. a number of active tuberculosis cases in the Waikare district, this figure is not excessively high,” he stated. The total number of outpatients seen during May was 151. consisting of 115 Maoris and 36 Europeans.
Inpatients visited totalled 28 Maoris and 5- Europeans.
