Constable's Appeal
WELLINGTON, Tue. (PA.).— The hearing was completed yesterday of an appeal by a former constable, J. M. Pointon, against his dismissal from the police force, but the decision of the board of appeal has not yet been announced. The board, which was set up under the Police Force Act, 1947, is comprised of a magistrate as chairman, a commissioned officer equal in rank or senior to the appellant and a nominated member elected by members of the police force. In the present case they ere respectively: Mr A. Coleman, S.M., Superintendent H. J. Joyce (Palmerston North) and Senior Sergeant F. N. Edwards. At the hearing yesterday Inspector F. Forsythe (Wanganui) appeared for department and Mr J. Meltzer for the appellant.
