The death has occurred in the Whanagrei Hospital of Mrs Eethel Robinson, aged 58, of Northcote. Mrs Robinson was formerly of Whangarei, and she was connected with several organisations in the district. At her funeral on Wednesday all these organisations were represented at the laying of wreaths. Born in Halifax, England, in 1891, Mrs Robinson (nee Smith) came to New Zealand in 1926 to live in Whangarei.
Her husband was Mr Albert Oswald Robinson, greenkeeper at the Waitemata Bowling Club. Mrs Robinson joined the ladies’ division ol’ the St. John Ambulance Brigade in 1930 and was appointed lady divisional secretary in 1932. In 1944 she became superintendent of the women’s nursing division. She was the first woman member of the Manchester Unity Lodge, a member of the Rebekah Lodge, of the Orange Lodge, and of the Happiness Club.
For some years she was secretary of the Whangarei Women’s Institute. Mrs Robinson is survived by her husband and one son.
