Australians At Hamilton Meet

HAMILTON. Fri. (Sp.)—The mile win of J. Marks (Australia) from scratch in 4.191-5 was the highlight of a sports meeting at Hamilton yesterday when five of the visiting Australians appeared. , Miss Shirley Strickland fell soon after the start of the 80 metres hurdles and sprained a wrist. She received medical attention and returned to the track to win the rerun of this event and also the 100yds. (Sp.)—Travelweary after a bus trip from Whangarei, the four Australians, Curotta, Avery, White and Goodacre appeared at Otahuhu last evening. Curotta staged a spectacular finishing burst to win the 75yds from Masters and Shaw in the fast time of 7.75. Curotta won his heat of the 220yds by a yard easing up in 22.2 s on a heavy track. White was out of a place in a 300yds handicap. Avery and Goodacre competed in the board jump. Avery had the best performance, clearing 21ft 7Ain.
