Church Flower Show At' Onerahi
Opened by the Mayoress of Whangarei on Saturday, the flower show of the combined Anglican and Presbyterian Churches of Onerahi netted approximately £34, to be divided between the funds of the two chinches.
Entries were loss than on previous years, bill the quality of exhibits was high.
.Mrs J. Leaf was an outstanding competitor, with a total of 64 entries. She maintained a consistently high standard and earned a total of 107 points to capture the Meyer trophy. Prizes were presented at an evening concert, where, in addition to local artists, a troupe of Maori girls from ihe Whangarci Hotel provided entertainment of a high order. Principal prize-winners were:
Cut flowers, Mrs J. Leaf; decorative section, Mrs A. Cope; vegetable and produce, Mr J. Leal'; baking, Mrs Mullineaux; sweets. Miss J. Leaf; needlework.
