Israel Applies For UNO Membership
LONDON, Mon. (11.30 a.m.).—lsrael formally aplied for United Nation? membership and asked the Security Council to consider its application in the present session. The Israeli Foreign Minister (Mr Sherlok) In a letter to the Secretary General of UNO (Mr Trygve Lie) said Israel had been proclaimed on May 14.1948, since when it -had been consolidated administratively and had defended itself successfully against thti aggression of neighbouring states. Nineteen powers already had recognised Israel.
