New Liner For Dominion Trade

WELLINGTON, Fri. (P.A.)—The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company has been advised that the Ceramic, the fourth of the first-class passenger and cargo liners of its post-war fleet, has completed her running trials and was delivered to the company yesterday. Like her sister ships the Athenic and Corinthic, she will carry about eight first-class passengers. With a gross tonnage of 15,700 and a normal service speed of 17 knots, the Ceramic is designed for the Australian and New Zealand refrigerated trades. Her 523,000 cubic feet of refrigerated space will enable carriage from the Dominions on each voyage 7000 tons of meat, dairy produce and fruit, in addition to 4000 tons of wool and other merchandise.
