Such a disastrous decision is inevitable unless the women of the Mangonui County support their own hospital. Nursing is a profession in which salaries and conditions are good and which provides considerable personal satisfaction. Salaries for untrained nurses begin at £'l.Js p.a board, lodging and uniforms provided. Overtime allowances are paid and a minimum of 23 days' annual leave is granted. Sick leave is four weeks on full pay and four weeks on half pay, and subsistance allowances are paid while on leave. Prospects in tiiis profession are excellent and after qualifying a nurse’s salary compares more than'favourably with any other profession. T HE _ Local Government Commission, acting under powers conferred upon it by Local Government Commission Act, 1946, has promulgated a i provisional scheme providing that independent Town District of Kamo shall be united with Borough of Whangarci. Objections to this provisional scheme must be lodged within one month of publication of this notice with Secretary, Local Government Commission, Box 30, Govt. Buildings, Wellington. The date for this purpose shall be deemed to be November 29, 1948. If within time specified no objections are received. Commission will proceed to approve of scheme as a final scheme.
