Snowfalls Reported In Centra! NJ.
AUCKLAND, Tue. (Sp.).—Heavy falls of snow were reported in the centre of the North Island at the week-end. At the Chateau, where rain or snow has been experienced for ten successive days, the mountain road has been kept clear for ti’affic with a grader and a bulldozer and on Saturday a crosscountry ski race was run on the golf course below the hotel'. The snowfall eased on Saturday, to be replaced by rain. After a delay of some days, the Ruapehu Ski Club’s championships were resumed on Sunday. Heavy snow fell at the week-end at Te Haroto, on the Taupo-Napier road about 50 miles from Taupo, but it was not of sufficient depth to interfere with ti-affic. Rain which followed on Sunday night cleai’ed the road of snow, but made it slippery with slush. There has been no snow on the Desert Road or on the Main Trims railway.
