Spaniards Deny Considering Bases
MADRID, Mon. (11.20 a.m.).— A Spanish Foreign Ministry spokesman described as ‘.‘absolutely false” reports published in London of possible negotiations for military bases in Spain. He added: “No thought has ever been given to the matter.” Spanish newspapers earlier denied that any military or diplomatic agreement had been reached at the meeting on September 30 between General Franco and the Chairman of the United States Armed Services Committee (Senator Chan Gurney).
