Blood Transfusion For Over 1 Hours
BRISBANE,. Mon. (10 a.m.)— Continuous blood transfusion for 71 hours kept a man alive during a 750-mile flight from Barcaldine, Central Queensland, to Brisbane.
The patient,. who was bleeding internally, received half a gallon of blood while. the plane was in flight and had exhausted the supply when the plane touched down.
Strong head winds forced the plane to land at Rockhampton to refuel, but flying conditions were better for the rest of the trip.
The patient’s condition was fair when he reached hospital.
