Hockey Reps For Dunedin
The six Whangarel members of the Auckland provincial country ladies' hockey team left by bus this morning on their way to Dunedin for the K Cup tournament, which opens on Saturday.
They are Misses C. McGregor, S. McGregor, P. Rasmussen, M. Frood, N. Hannam and P.. Wilson. The tournament extends over a week.
The Auckland country team has been drawn in the B section of the K Cup competition, in which Canterbury A. runner-up last year, Rangitikei, third last year, and Eastern Southland and Ashburton are also competing. Fifteen teams have entered in the major event and 16 in the minor section. VARSITY REPS Three Whangarei ladies are members ol' the Auckland Univerifty team playing in the annual inter-varsity tournament which commenced at Christchurch today. They are Misses Rae Gribble, Ngairc Bindon and Ann Simmons. Team To Play Waikato The Whangarei ladies’ team to play Waikato at Kensington Park on Saturday is:— N. Warm, B. Sullivan. E. McKegg. J. Hay, N. Johnson. L. Wallbank, J. Crawford, M. Johnson. E. Hudson, B. Meyers and A. McKay. Reserves are: J. Webb and M. Fin-; layson. Mr Hugh Black, of Dominion Road.! Auckland, celebrated his 94th birthday ; yesterday. Mr Black has been an elder j of the Presbyterian Church for the | record period of 67 years. He is the | father of the Rev. W. Bower Black, of St David’s Church.
