Five Hurt In Collision With Bridge
DANNEVIRKE, Mon. (P.A.).—Five residents of Hastings were injured, one seriously, on Saturday afternoon when a car in which they were riding crashed into the end of the bridge on the main highway at the northern boundary of Dannevirke, and left the road. All are now in the Dannevirke Hospital. They are:
John Shepherd. 15, fractured skull: John Steele, 16, Mr Rodney Nightingale, 20; Mr Donald Herbert Kennedy. 26; Miss Gladys Shepherd. 17, all concussion and minor lacerations.
The party was returning to Hastings after Miss Shepherd, Steele and Nightingale had competed in a road cycling race.
The condition of the injured is satisfactory.
