Entries For Ladies’ Championships

With entries for the Northland ladies’ golf championships, sponsored by the Whangarei ladies’ club, closing next Saturday, over 50 of the required number of 72 have already been received by the club’s secretary (Mrs I. M. Foster).

Akarana, the Grange and Titirangi clubs are well represented, and it is anticipated that over 100 entries are pending, but only 72 lowest handicaps can be accepted. So far five singlefigure nominations have been received.

Some of the low-markers who competed last year are not available, notably Mrs G. S. Laird, now resident in Paeroa, Mrs E. Seyb and Miss O. Abbott, both single-figure players of the home club. Miss Jocelyn Green, second daughter of Mr and Mrs J. A. Green, of River Road, Hamilton, is this year head prefect of the Hamilton High School. She began her secondary education in Whangarei, moving with her parents to Hamilton when she was in the fourth form.
