Auckland B And Wairarapa Draw
AUCKLAND, Mon. (Sp.).—Auckland B and Wairarapa drew 20-all on Saturday. Auckland was somewhat lucky.
Auckland scored the necessary live points for a draw in the last minute of the game. R. L. Dobson, second five-eighths, made a splendid opening in a typical side-stepping run and P. McKay, centre, came up fast to dash over by the posts. There could have been few spectators who did not consider that on the day Wairarapa deserved to take the honours.
Tries for Auckland were scored by G. Kearney, B. Sweet, R. Sorenson and P. McKay. For Wairarapa, A. Pinfold (2) and B. Desmond scored tries. T. Te Maari converted one and also kicked a penalty goal. W. Coupland kicked two penalty goals, one a fine effort from over 40 yards out.
“EARN AS YOU TRAVEL.” A choir of 23 girls and 14 men front Lyons University, France, on an
“earn as you travel” visit to Britain, sang French folk songs in Leicester Square and made a collection from a large Sunday crowd. They collected £SO when they sang at Brighton.
