300 Burmese Army Men Deserf
LONDON, Wed. (11 a.m.).—Threehundred Burmese troops stationed at Mingaladon, a suburb of Rangoon, deserted yesterday with their arms. Observers believe they have gone north to join the Communist rebels, says the Daily Express Rangoon correspondent. „ , He says the bodyguard of the Prime Minister (Thakin Nu) and some military police are also reported to have joined the insurgents. Rangoon is seething with excitement as rumours spread of the Communist intentions to organise a coup.
guards are patrolling the streets, and the army and navy are on the alert.
