Hyderabad ... ‘Standing Threat To Existence Of India’
NEW DELHI. Tue. (11.30 a.m.)— A White Paper on the Hyderabad situation, issued by the Government of India, said Hyderabad's history was one of “unprincipled opportunism, an abortive quest for power and inglorious, uninterrupted dependence." It added that the Nizam's inspiration converted the Razakars into a “shock brigade for creating conditions in which the much-coveted theocratic state may come into existence.” The Foreign Minister (Mr Patel), tabling the White Paper, said an independent Hyderabad was a “standing threat to the progress, prosperity and, indeed, the very existence of the Indian union.” INTERNAL AUTONOMY
Mr Patel added that the internal autonomy of the state, after accession, would be preserved except in essential matters of defence, external affairs and communications. Hyderabad’s internal situation was rapidly deteriorating. The depredations of the Razakars was taxing India’s patience and causing the Government a great deal of anxiety. Mallikar Junappa, third and last Hindu Minister in the Hyderabad Cabinet, resigned with seven other Hindu Assembly members, says the Associated Press correspondent.
Two other Hindu Ministers, Ramachar and Joshi, resigned earlier.
