Support For ’Northland'
To obtain as much support as possible for advocating to the New Zealand Geographic Board that the term “North Auckland’’ be changed to “Northland,” the Whangarei Chamber of Commerce has written to 15 societies, councils, chambers of commerce and town boards, asking their cooperation.
This action was taken following a letter from the secretary of the Geographic Board (Mr C. S. Wood).
The letter stated that the chamber’s request would be considered when the board met in September. “This chamber seeks your support in this matter and would appreciate it very much if your organisations would make a point of seeing that a letter is sent to Mr Wood before September,” stated the chamber’s circular.
