Davis and Price deserved their win in the men’s doubles. They beat off some strong challenges in the earlier rounds, and were the logical choice for the final. UNSTOPPABLE Their only stiff opposition, H. Madden and J. Price, whom they met in the quarter-final, was eliminated 21—9. 21—8, through R. Price’s unstoppable drives from either side of the table. McAdam and Florence were lucky to reach the finaLi both lacking .a drive. The tempo of play quietened down considerably in the final. Price again came to the fore with his drives. McAdam made some good recoveries, but Davis and Price won 9—21, B—2l. WHAKAPA'fcA FINALISTS Four Whakapara women took the table to decide the women’s doubles. Miss J. Davis and Miss Tr. Edwards were the more aggressive, and won comfortably 21—16 and 21—7. This game was noticeable fon the way in which all players drove on both sides. Mrs D. Love and Miss N. McAdam were eliminated in the early stages by Mrs J. Davis and Miss L. Bennett. Drawing the largest entry for any event, the combined doubles was won by A. McAdam and Mrs D. Love. CLEVER PLACEMENTS A. McAdam's cuts and chops troubled all that he met, but in the final against J. Price and Mrs E. Kemp he excelled with placements. An occasional drive by J. Price produced winners, and the victors onlv won 21—16, 21—19. J. Davis and Mrs Davis were ousted i by Price and Mrs Kemp in a three-set j quarter-final. . The Mayor (Mr W.
