'PORTENT'
WELLINGTON. —Tim Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) rose from one of the Opposition benches to make a statement in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon. He had been consulting the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Holland) on a matter concerning a committee of the House when he was called- upon by the Speaker to outline the next business of the day.
The Prune Minister stood up Tit a bench normally occupied by Mr W. Sullivan (O Bay of Plenty). “Tins is near enough. lam as ckise as I will ever %et,” he remarked, pointing to Mr Holland’s seat.
Mr T. P. Shand (O Marlborough): A portent- of things to come.
