For 14 years, with little interruption, the clock has chimed out the : hours and quarters, and it is now ' five yeai’s since it was overhauled, j Next Tuesday morning, the electri- ' cal system will be overhauled and it ; is hoped to complete the work in a day, but there is always the possibi- ; lity that longer time may be re- ; quired. By Thursday morning at the : latest, however, the booming tones ; should again be audible throughout ; the town. Operated by batteries, the clock ! needs little attention, but the time j switch operating the chimes from line power needs overhaul periodically.
