'Derbies Coloured Troops For Europe
NEW YORK, Fri. (11.30 a.m.).—Reuters Kingston (Jamaica) correspondent denies reports from Havana that the New Zealand Shipping Company’s Empire Windrush is sailing for Europe with 1500 coloured troops aboard. The correspondent says: The Empire Windrush embarked about 900 passengers at Jamaica. There were no military personnel aboard except a few Royal Air Force officers who had been in charge of demobilisation at Jamaica of former RAF men.
