good Rate Collection In Whangarei Borough

Whangarei Borough ratepayers have paid 97.5 per cent of due rates. Payment of rates without invoking a penalty of 10 per cent had to be made by last evening and at that time £49.763 of £51.085 struck had been collected.

Fayments to the former penalty date on February 28 amounted to £29,857, ratepayers taking advantage of the extension to March 16 to the extent of £ 19,906.

It is expected that by the end of the financial year on March 31, the collection will equal, if it does not exceed, last year’s collection of 98.36 per cent.
