Bromwich Out Of Cup Team
MELBOURNE, Tue. (1 p.m.)—Bromwich was not chosen in the Australian Davis Cup team, because he refused to travel by air. In a letter to the selectors, he stated: “On no condition will I fly.
“I regret to say I will not be available for this year’s team.” Earlier, Bromwich explained that air travel made him very sick and left him in a listless condition. Bromwich and the former Davis Cup player, Hopman, express disappointment at the exclusion of the promising young Victorian, Sedgman. They say that he is showing a great improvement and is already in world class as a doubles player, whereas the selected team has no. strong doubles combination.
The following team was announced last night: A. K. Quist (captain-man-ager), C. F. Long, O. W. Sidwell, G. Brown.
