Keeler Wrecked in Stormy Yacht Rase

AUCKLAND, Mon. (Sp.) Only eight of the 1 ? 7 entrants in. the 100-mile ■Balokovic Cup yacht race managed to complete the course. The 25ft keeler Nada was wrecked on a reef off Cow Island, at the entrance to’Coromandel, the Tainui was dismasted, and only one yacht, the Rawhiti, carried full sail from start to finish.

The Rawhiti crossed the finishing line first by just under four hours, and retained first place on corrected times.

The Nada was holed twice on the reef off the Cow, but the crew walked ashore at low tide, later being taken off by the Rambler, which had withdrawn from the race.

There is some hope of salvaging the yacht, which' is valued at £I2OO.
